The Montblanc Heritage Collection Rouge et Noir “Baby” celebrates the pioneering spirit and rich heritage of the Maison. Inspired by the “Baby” pens of the 1920s, Montblanc reinterprets this revolutionary design for its time in a modern key. The name is a playful reference to the small size of this model compared to other Montblanc writing instruments. Crafted in precious black lacquer with platinum-coated fittings, it is crowned by the Montblanc emblem in precious resin, surrounded by the iconic coral shade of the Montblanc Rouge et Noir collection.

Montblanc “baby pens” from the 1910s and 1920s were among the smallest and most innovative writing instruments of their time. Leak-proof, travel-sized and easy to use, their avant-garde design helped transform the world of writing at a time when people were beginning to discover the pleasure of long-distance travel. Today, these special editions are reinterpreted, combining traditional design with 21st-century craftsmanship to meet the needs of a new generation.
The original Montblanc “baby pen” models from the 1910s and 1920s measured between 6 and 8 cm. Small yet highly functional, these fountain pens were made of ebonite and featured a 14 ct gold nib. At a time when ballpoint pens and rollerballs did not yet exist, “baby pens” were the perfect writing instruments to carry in a pocket or handbag.
