Paolo Orlandini and Roberto Lucci founded their studio in Milan in the late 1960s, distinguishing themselves for their ability to combine rigorous functionality, technological innovation, and aesthetic quality. They collaborated with Velca, Kartell, Elco, and Bieffeplast. Their VIP coat stand and umbrella stand (1970) for Velca is a classic of Italian design: an everyday object transformed into a furnishing element with its own formal dignity, in chromed metal with balanced proportions and multiple functions.
