Kazuhide Takahama (19302010) was a Japanese designer who chose Italy as his creative home, bringing a refined Oriental sensibility and an extraordinary ability to synthesize form to European design. Born in Niihama, he moved to Europe where he met Dino Gavina, becoming Simon Gavina's leading designer. His Tulu chair is a masterful example of essential design: a curved wood frame, padded seat, and balanced proportions create an object of unavoidable formal perfection.
