Carlo Bartoli (19312023) is one of the most enduring and prolific Italian designers of the twentieth century, authoring a vast and coherent production that spans over fifty years of Italian design history. A graduate in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic, he collaborated with manufacturers such as Arflex, Bonaldo, Matteo Grassi, and Rossi di Albizzate. In 1966, he won the Compasso d'Oro with the Gaia armchair for Arflex. Among his most significant pieces is the Bogo sofa (1970) for Rossi di Albizzate: a modular system in leather and suede, an excellent example of 1970s Italian seating design. His original pieces are highly prized today by collectors.
